Post Supra Mk4 at John L Sullivan Chevrolet
Today, Jan 21 2010, there is a dark green Supra MK4 sitting on their lot, front and center. Price?

$34,000

I didn't get out and look at it to see the details, didn't have time to see if it was a low milage car, or what the deal was. Just a big price tag on the windshield. You can count on it being 100% stock if sold off the dealer lot.

you see them with 100k miles going for like 25 thousand, makes no sense...but whatever

with a good exhaust system going and a boost controller you can apparently get into the high 400's BHP-wise, makes it pretty desirable, and they are by far the best looking 90's car that didn't end up costing over 100k in my opinion.

Ugh, if only F&F hadn't ruined it, supras wouldn't resell at $300,000,000,000 dollars. I know that's not the only reason, but it plays a part.

At Carl Burger Dodge in La Mesa, they have a Viper GTS in red in front of their showroom. The price is only $23,000. Gimmie that over a Poopra any day.

Exactly. There are a lot of newer fast cars for around that price. Hell, I saw a late 70's Ferrari 308 GTB on craigslist for $26,000 once. Talk about rollin' in style.

Wherever you may be, when the topic turns to cars and you mention Ferrari, people listen. That is a fact nobody can't deny.

GTB's (solid body top) are the most sought after 308's, the fiberglass ones are even more rare and highly collectable. That's a nice price for a GTB. I hope they weren't selling it just to get out from under it's major.
308's are timeless, great cars.
________
Ferrari factoid: During the 70's, fiberglass was a new material being used to construct some cars. Ferrari looked into it and found it to be a lightweight material and began rolling a few all fiberglass 308's off the assembly line. Enzo Ferrari came down from his throne somewhere in the Ferrari building and saw the new fiberglass 308's being assembled. He told Pinninferina to stop using fiberglass. He didn't want his cars made out of the same material as those damn Corvettes.
Mr. Pinninferina told this story himself, yours truly heard him utter these words.

Definitely. The 328's were cool too, but just....not as cool, I don't know why.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there IMO the supra is the worst looking of the Jap supercars. Its the only one IMO that looks better with a mild body kit than stock.

180MPH at 326bhp, can probably break 200MPH with an exhaust system and boost controller alone, quite the car

Om....honestly Supras get way more attention than they deserve. Yeah the 2Jz TT is sick and has a very strong motor, no doubting that, but people put shit loads of money into those cars to make them run run 11's, it's not much different from a VR-4/TT to get it in the 11's. (other than slimfast for the VR-4/StealthTT guys). People always seem to forget that the twin turbo supra made the same horsepower as the twin turbo 3000gt/stealth (94+).

The only reason I really like supras is that they run inline 6, which has a way unique sound. That's mainly it...

I'm not forgetting vr-4s put out the same power i just like the body of the supra better and the fact that you dont have to spend a couple thousand extra and a lot of time into body kits that don't suck and don't look riced out to make this thing lighter weight.

I look at it this way, asmy shirt so wholesomely states: "My car and kick your cars ass." its funny that it was originally quoted by a supra owner, but when it comes to crashes, im sure the vr4 would walk over a supra. Tempted to just find a supra mkiv and hit it with the vr4. Yes i have a disdain for the mkiv, but in all seriousness.

its a nice car. its just too pricey for no apparent reason. thats all there is to it.

Supras = dyno queens. Easier to make power. Stronger stock internal motor vs the 6g72. They make excellent track cars with track tires. In street form though, I think the TT 3s will walk all over it.

Stock pound for pound on a road course the 1996 GTO MR took the Supra. Also in the drags as well.

Sure, but if you're putting 500+ whp to your car, usually you're gonna get some forged internals anyways, unless you really want to chance your luck. I think VR4's on stock internals can take like 550hp, while supras like 600? I just made the supra number up, but it sounds good to me.

matt m daily drives a 611hp stock engine stealth. it just depends on how you build it and if you can tune a car right. plus fucking 15 years of experience and a parts bin helps.

you have to do so much to these things to support that kind of power. intercoolers, injectors, fuel pump, turbos, and basically a stand alone with a pro tune are the only way to make these things reliable.

the supra on the other hand needs a boost controller and a safc.

and the corvette all ready has a retarded amount of hp. mitsu just didn't build a car out of the box that could support 400+ wheel HP. we have to work for that shit. and unfortunately for us our ecu's are sons a bitches.

of course you can use an safc ii and get a decent tune with small turbos, but the aem or other stand alone ecm's help SO much.

Are you talking about the guy from dynamic racing? Stock heads too? If so, that's nuts. Yeah I'm not quite sure why we got such small injectors and lame turbos. Oh well I guess.
